HEALTH TESTING

The Labradors in our program all meet certain criteria to be a part of our program at Shadow Run Labradors.
​To give you some insight on what we health test for, they all must meet the following:

Hips
​Rated and certified by the Orthopedic Foundation of Animals

Elbows rated with a Normal score
​Rated and certified by the Orthopedic Foundation of Animals

Annual Eye CERF ​rated with a Normal score
​Rated and certified by a board-certified Ophthalmologist 

Advanced Cardiac Evaluation by Doppler Echo/Ausc/Ekg ​rated Normal score
​Rated and certified by a board-certified Cardiologist 

Labrador Retriever Genetic Disease Panels from DNA 
​Performed by reputable DNA laboratory companies (Embark, DDC and Pawprint) for the Labrador Retriever specific DNA panels
We perform every test available to the Labrador Retriever that is available to Breeders, including dilute (DD) testing which every one of our Labradors will be genetically clear of, guaranteed. Labrador Retrievers only come in Black, Chocolate and Yellow (light cream to dark fox red)

Sound Physical and Reproductive Health 
All of our Labrador Retrievers are seen by board-certified Veterinarians for routine care to ensure health by physical exams, vaccinations and yearly bloodwork. ​Before each breeding takes place our Labrador Retrievers are seen by the Reproduction Specialists at Animal Clinic Northview with and under the world-renowned Dr. Robert Hutchison to ensure that in addition to overall physical health that our Labrador's reproduction health is at its best for each and every one, male and female.

Sound Structure and Appearance
Conformation refers to a dog's overall structure and appearance. As a Breeder of Labrador Retrievers, with every breeding we are working towards improving structure in one way or another always referring to the AKC Labrador Retriever breed standard. We are constantly either attending or entering in Labrador Retriever Specialties and also attending All Breed shows to be able to visually see, put our hands on and admire other Labrador Retrievers.

Temperament and Versatility
Temperament is exceptionally important to us in every Labrador Retriever that is in our program and every Labrador Retriever we breed to.
We prioritize temperament in our Labrador Retrievers as well as versatility, we want the dogs to be intelligent, easily trainable and have a sweet and loving nature towards other animals, adults and children. Each of the Labrador Retrievers we decide to keep or add into our program must mirror the Hallmark temperament we have proudly established with our current Labradors. 
Our Labrador Retrievers have gone into loving companion homes, hunting/sport homes, AKC quality show homes and gone into therapy work.
One of our puppies proudly is working with and residing with one of the founders of The Connection Pet Therapy Program here in Ohio.
